Picasso and Braque: Some Thoughts On Cubism

I never liked this style of art. But after watching the documentary Picasso and Braque go to the Movies, my interest was piqued, and now I have a better understanding of what these artists were trying to do. If you watch this film, you will see what I mean. They are relating to and incorporating the flickering light of the old projectors into their paintings, also, the still images, and moving images...this is a new thing in their era. Even the shape of the old projectors is shown in some of their work.

They start watching flicks when they are teenagers. This new technology is fascinating to them. They begin to look at objects differently and people imagining them in facets and in the lighting of film at that time. If you have Netflix, you can find the documentary there. Let me know what you think about cubism and the film as it explains cubism.

You're welcome. Since you are a photographer...what do you think of Lamp in the Night1? It is composed of 2 original photos and I altered it with a painting program. You can go there and critique it, if you want to.
